STATES IN NIGERIA ARE LOSING REVENUE Part-2
It could be that it is the Governor of your State that is Lazy and this has trickled down and very evident in many ways. Laziness in several fronts actually!!
As imperfect as the Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution is, it still empowers the Governors to do so much.
The Governor’s pronouncement or declaration such as: a road should be constructed here or a building should be erected here is actually cash-backed. All that is needed is for his handlers, aides to generate the required memo and follow the procedures for the Accountant General of the State to disburse money. But when the Governor himself doesn’t follow his own proclamations, you have so many promises not being fulfilled. Bureaucracy and administrative bottlenecks impede a lot of things.
Can we ask our dear Governors, how many jobs have been created in their respective states since they assumed office? Not the FGN interventions that aren’t even sustainable.
Every Governor MUST be the champion of the ease of doing business and also ensure the cost of doing business within the purview of the State is favourable for MSMEs, that way you can genuinely tax these businesses and ensure sustainable growth!
_If you learnt anything from this, kindly share with someone out there._
